Dr David Tivey BSc PhD

Dr David Tivey trained at the University of St Andrews and the Babraham Institute (Cambridge) in the UK before moving to Australia to take up a lectureship in Animal Science at the University of Adelaide.  During his career, David has published and continues to publish on the impact of nutrition, environment and growth factors on digestive tract physiology in companion animals and livestock.  Particular interest is the role of prebiotics and bacteria in maintaining optimal digestive and absorptive function. This work has been extended to the development of non-invasive breath tests to assess health and well being in animals, especially horses. In 2004 David established Veterinary Research Synergies (VRS) Pty Ltd to provide nutritional research services to the horse & livestock industries as well as develop non-invasive diagnostics for use in horses and other livestock.   In 2007 VRS joined forces with NuEra Nutrition in a collaborative venture to develop and manufacture high quality, affordable feed supplements for animals.  The result has been the creation of the Nutrigard range of products.    As such David has an extensive knowledge of animal physiology and nutrition with a particular focus on performance animals.
